I have some tendencies.
I organized the starburst candies into piles.
By color.
And then I ate one and folded it into a tiny flower.
Yeah, I'm that good.

Please, pray for me.
I need prayer this week.

p.s. Auditions for the role of my best friend will be held very soon. *sigh* Or you guys can just MOVE BACK!! :(

at times you can't get a break

paranoid (351/365), originally uploaded by Katherine Elizabeth.

But you take one anyways.
I am so glad that this is my last semester of classes.
Granted, I'm still freaked about whatever's next...
But I'm more annoyed by the mountain of work I have.
I have to read 135 pages from one book,
244 pages from another,
And a paper to write about something I know nothing about.
Boo.
This is why I'm not an English major.

flood my heart, mind, and life

flood painting, originally uploaded by p r o m i s e.

Today will be a song, instead of a poem
(thanks to Melissa). Enjoy.
And I hope you have a blessed Sunday! :)

I know I need You
I need to love You, Lord
I love to see You, but it's been so long

I long to feel You
I feel this need for You
And I need to hear You
Is that so wrong?

oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

Now You've pulled me near You
When we're close, I fear You
Still I'm afraid to tell you
All that I've done

Are You done forgiving?
Or can You look pass my pretending?
Lord, I'm so tired of defending
What I've become
What have I become?

oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

I hear You say, "My love is over,
It's underneath, it's inside, it's in between
The times you doubt Me, when you can't feel
The times that you questioned, 'Is this for real?'
The times you've broken, the times that you mend
The times you hate Me and the times that you bend

"Well My love is over, it's underneath, it's inside, it's in between,
These times you're healing and when your heart breaks
The times that you feel like you've fallen from grace
The times you're hurting, the times that you heal
The times you go hungry and are tempted to steal

"In times of confusion and chaos and pain
I'm there in your sorrow, under the weight of your shame
I'm there through your heartache, I'm there in the storm
My love I will keep you by My power alone

"I don't care where you've fallen or where you have been
I'll never forsake you, My love never ends
It never ends."
mmm, mmm

oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

life into art and art into life

art for huruma, originally uploaded by p r o m i s e.

I've been feeling artistic lately. I want to put together some art pieces or get some good photography done. I need a focus for it though. Something that I will striving for, otherwise nothing will get done. As for now, I am going to try to focus on poetry, sharing a new poem each day. Who knows... maybe some I've written will leak in as well. :D

Oh, and Traditions starts Monday.
I'm looking forward to it.

Life without ART, by Darlene Lewis

Can you ask a baby not to cry?
can you ask a bird not to fly?
can you ask a flower not to bloom?
life without art is death after doom
life without movement still and content
worthless meaningless time is spent
idle just slumber just plain and bland
no strokes no pens or pencil in hand
no music no prose no blisters on toes
no broken hearted dancers no shows
only true artists understand and know
how life would be so grey and dark
life without love is life without art
rehearsals and go sees and cattle calls
no models no musicians at all
no mp3s or mov's nor any html
no lyrics lost no cds to sell
no beats no bangs no blues no rock
no jazz no reggatone no not
museum walls crying for frames
artifacts unknown fossil names
markers paint oil and lead
art cannot live if it is dead
Art is a baby waiting to be
nurtured and loved eternally
Art is a Rose in full bloom
Life without art is Death after Doom

lovin thursday. another please?

kenya africa, originally uploaded by p r o m i s e.

I did something big last night.
Toiled over the wording and the format.
I pressed send, against my dreamer's logic.
And nothing has been sent back in return.
No confirmation of receipt.
No reply of any kind.
It's frustrating.
And I can't ignore it.
That would only makes things worse.
I'll keep hoping for a reply until monday.
Then I will have to face the music.

with time: clarity & growth

kenya africa, originally uploaded by p r o m i s e.

It has only been a few days and I have much to learn about myself and my faith, but I feel at peace with a lot of things in my life that I knew prior. I forgot a big part of who I am and in turn, loss a sense of worth.

Something I believed before (but not as strongly) and I now believe more and more is that God doesn't have just one person that is meant to be your spouse. I think love and marriage is a choice; a choice made by each person to commit to the other, whether or not the time spent with them is always good or the spark of novelty or passion is present in the relationship.

Finding "the right one" does not magically flip a switch in you, making you capable of commitment and servitude. Finding "the right one" will not make you stronger, unless you make the effort to become strong yourself. More convincingly, finding "a right one" gives you the opportunity to practice commitment and servitude in a new way. Finding "a right one" will provide you with the foundation to grow alongside another, either building them up and in turn, becoming stronger, or becoming comfortable, causing you to become dull in will and faith.

If you are hunting for "the right one," it's quite possible, and highly likely, that what you need is to find "a right one" in yourself first. I will continue loving, trusting, and serving the people around me. I will not agonize over time spent without God as my center and guiding light, but commit to memory the feeling of relief and comfort when I returned. Now, when I meet and get to know a man, who I think may be "the right one," I will make sure he is "a right one," who knows what it means to fight for a relationship with me and, more importantly, with God.

Time to unpack some old poems.
My classmates were pretty receptive of the poem that was chosen.
